"www.WalkingWestSomerset.co.uk" was created to assist both the serious and occasional walker enjoy this delightful part of the country and get a true flavour of the area at any time of the year.
Jim Nicholas and Sue Upstone, the authors of the site, were born locally, growing up in West Somerset and avid walkers. Based in Watchet, they know the area very well; where to spot red deer or find carpets of bluebells, good places to lunch beside the fast flowing moor land streams or a likely place to spot an elusive kingfisher or peregrine falcon. They are still discovering 'little gems' in this beautiful region and getting that 'wow' factor when coming across another glorious view.
We are able to offer help and advice for those wishing to enjoy walks with wildlife or historical connections or merely the freedom of roaming the hundreds of footpaths criss-crossing West Somerset. Links can be made to many of the more well known paths eg. South West Coast Path , Macmillan Way West etc. .
